Race Engineering (Clicky) stocks both the 90 and 91mm bore head gaskets. The 90 is what you use with 89/89.5mm pistons, that is what I have with my stock bore CP pistons. The deal with the cometic is that you must have an absolutely immaculate surface on both the head and the block. I had my block and head slightly decked and polished to generate that kind of a surface finish. I have had two Cometic head gaskets with no issues.jongonzoS13az wrote:alright at all the online stores i go to they only sell cometic head gaskets and cf forged pistons now heres the confusion cf pistons only come with .89-89.5 bore and cometic gaskets come in like a .90-.91 is there any good quality metal gaskets that would fit .89-.89.5 i mean what do you guys use?
Maybe 1 out of 250 KAT's will ever run over 20psi. Unless you're really striving for big numbers the stock headgasket or stock type is just fine. Felpro FTW!!!SR24DET wrote:You really dont recamend an aftermarket headgasket?! I am building my KA and i wana boost it, maybe 30psi. I dont wana blow my headgasket so im gona get a metal one as well. How hard can it be to put on. I already have the engine torn down almost all the way. Im haveing the cylinders honned. What more then just put the headgasket on do i have to do? Its a gasket...
Perhaps you have different goals then most, but if you use a turbo big enough to support 30 psi you'll have a very laggy daily driver. Not to mention that anything more the 400whp makes the car nearly undriveable on boost. It only takes 20psi give or take to go past the 400 mark. With 30psi you're going through trannies and rear ends since you'll need slicks to hook up.SR24DET wrote:think its that important? with honned cylinders, forged internals, metal headgasket, and ARP studs, what would stop me from going that high. I was thinking daily at 20psi and when at the track 30psi. you think with those mods it wont hold up? I emailed BC and they said with those internals i shouldnt go lower then 16psi. did i mention low compression pistons and a thick headgasket.
