piston and rod questions

ok just picked up a set of :arias 8.8:1 .20 over pistonscarrillo i beam rods

only catch there used , but for only 2k, the guy parted out his car. not motor problems the car ran fine.

so what should i look for once i get them?how do i clean the carbon off the piston?what shold i look for in terms of detination and ring lands?

also on the rods, how can i check for warp or stretch?also what should i look for on the bearing surface of the rodsand any thing to check with the wristpin to piston.

You're going to want new rings, the ones on there are worn to his block. So run a cylinder hone through your block and swap the rings.

As far as condition, check for the scoring and general wear. Measure the length of the rods. Use new bearings when you swap everything in.

Soak the pistons in petro or kerosene to lossen up the carbon and then hit them with a scotch bright pad. The ring lands and all the surfaces should be flawless or have them taken to a machine shop and inspected.

Bout all I'd do.

think i was a smart move tho buying used parts? that the only part im iffy on..

Depends...did you say $2000 for used rods and pistons or 2000 miles on them? $2000 would be bad IMO.

$320 shipped.. that was the only reason i both them and the fact the rods were carrillo.

did more researchrods are carrillo super a- beams.

any one heard of them? i called up carrillo they said its one setep below their race application, good for street stip..
