I have an older model pioneer from 2010 its a 3300 AVH-BT. As for installations regardless of the aftermarket radio you will need to color match wires and get he correct harness for your car. Radios were made for all applications so they are not plug and play since they are not made vehicle specific. Hope that helps, feel free to pm me with any questions. I work in a custom garage so I do a lot of this stuff.

No you don't just plug it in you need to color match the wires the after market harness, usually called turbowire, it is not super difficult to do all you do is connect the same color wires. either solder or just simple splice and electric tape. But if you want the dvd player to work while you are in drive you will need to get a parking brake bypass module basically a grounding module so it tricks the radio to say it is in park.

I got the Avh-x8500bhs receiver. Its great i love it. Gives you hdmi connection which is great for connecting a phone to the receiver and watching some sports when stuck in daily traffic. Have not had a single problem with it and connection was easy. I am by no means an expert in audio installation but if you can follow instructions its very simple to connect the wiring harness. The hardest thing was getting the steering wheel control adapter kit to work but that was only because i was being lazy and didn't feel like soldering (only thing i would say must be soldered, the rest you can use quick connect splices). But the receiver has been great and i spend months researching receivers.
