Pioneer DEH-P9800BT or Alpine CDA-9887??

What's better in quality and sound?

In the future, I want to hook 1 or 2 amps to the head unit. Will upgrade speakers as well.

Both sound very good... if you have the opportunity, try to find shops that have them and check out the features...

Go tit for tat regarding features, then make your decision... I'm partial to pioneer headunits because they make some of the best ones out there!

Hey doc,

I know you recommended Pioneer Deh-p980bt to one of our members. How come I can't find it on crutchfield.com? How can I find out when it was released?

Honestly, I like Pioneer deh-p9800bt than alpine cda-9887 because of the design and the cool things you can do with tach meters, etc...but i'm not sure about the quality..

I'd say the pioneer. Ive owned many pioneer units and never been dissapointed except for a DEH-P3900MP, and that still sounded great. I think the alpine may have slightly better sound quality, but it's a miniscule one if at all. Plus I think the pioneer has much better looks, and the alpine units are a little annoying changing the volume after a while.

Yes, I think it is a good price. the MSRP price was $550. It was on sale for $430, but I found they had 1 unit in their outlet section for $387 and I jumped on it right away.
