i though i read that someone here was able to put their microphone from the Pioneer unit in the same place as the stock microphone. But to my knowledge, you can't use the stock one in place of the pioneer one.IMrGoodBarI wrote:If i was to get this system would I be able to use the stock microphone or does it come with a external microphone. rjdmmfl1 is it possible to take pics of how the gps and xm antenna look like on the dash.

It is true that the Z2 (or transformed Z1) is superior to the Avic D3. And if one could buy the Avic Z1 for the same price as the D3, I would say that would be a good idea. Altough I've gotten around my AVIC D3 Nav/DVD playback issue, I have still considered possibly doing exactly what you are stating. Howevr, what would be more useful to everyone is to list out the reasons that the Z1 is superior to the D3.ChiLLaXtodaMaX wrote:for those who are thinking about ordering a D3...
think about getting an Avic-Z1. It's only a hundred or so more than the D3 and includes all the features the Z2 has. Buy a hard drive, image the drive with Z2 software and you've got yourself a Z2. To me, the D3's functionality is crippled because the Nav disc isn't stored in the headunit. You must eject your music CD and then load on the Nav disc just to get a new route.
If you're looking for an in-dash GPS unit...either go big or go home!
ur right, i left out the most obvious feature....duhhhChiLLaXtodaMaX wrote:you could also add that with the Z1, you get a 30GB HD, upgradable to 40GB. So 20GB for Nav and 20GB for storing music. Which is one of the strongest selling points IMO
