Hey guys,I have read about a million forums so far on this issue but am still left without a confused answer. I just got a Pioneer Avic D3 screen installed in my car. The car has a Bose system. The sound has been installed with the factory Bose amp. My sound is horrible, its not loud at all. I spoke to my installer who was shocked after hearing my problem and he told me that im the first G35 customer who has told him that. He believes that the sound should be if not better but the same as it is still connected with the factory amp.

My stock sub and speakers work fine, its just not as loud as it used to be. Could there be a problem with the installation or do i have some sound feature turned off on my screen (i have tried all the features from the screen)????? Some threads say to add an external amp to speakers, some say to change all the speakers and some say that im simply screwed lol..argh

Did they use an audio interconnect and splice in the RCA outputs to the factory amp inputs or did they run the headunits speaker outputs to the Bose amp?

If it's the same style of Bose audio system as the old Q45s had in them, you need an OEM Amplifier Adapter. Lets you control the output\gain of each channel. Had to use one when I put an aftermarket deck in my old Q.

On the Altima with the Bose you need a Speaker Level Converter like this one:

Probably the same case with the G

Not necessarily. That is one way to do it along with two others. You can splice the RCA outputs from the headunit into the Bose amp or you can splice the speaker-level outputs from the headunit into the Bose amp. For some reason I feel the audio shop possibly spliced the RCA outputs into the Bose amp thus the reason it is not as loud.

I agree with audtatious. I think the D3 only has a 2V output so it wouldn't be as loud as it should if they did rca directly to the factory equipment. It's not a bad way to do it you just need to check to make sure it's loud enough.

Your best bet is to get rid of the factory amp, and go aftermarket!

Although technically there are more ways than one to hook it up to a stock amp as audtatious said, there really is only one correct way to do it. You have to use a high level input if the amp only takes a high level input, which is the only input stock amps have. With a stock amp you need the inline amp adapter, which nchopp pointed out. Whoever used RCAs wasted a lot of time and must own a Honda, a Civic to be precise. If that's the case, I would be really upset if it were me if they can't do the job right and if they didn't have the part, just say so with an ETA. Did you happen to go to Circuit City or Best Buy?
