I paid 380 for mines the pioneer in dash decks in general you have to put it on a switch to bypass the video parking brake restriction. it's cool deck I like it I had a clarion at first sucks bad.

I'm guessing the way D3 way is the switch, when I use to work at a car audio place that's what we did for any pioneer.

Where did you get the trim piece that goes around it? Does it match the factory finish?

the correct and clean way is NOT the switch!!!! for the D3, its simply relocation of the black/yellow mute wire, grounding that wire, and then grounding te parking brake.

For the Avic Z2 w/ man date after April 07, its an ISO reflash, and then grounding the parking brake.

THe switch is an ugly and unprofessional way of bypassing any Pioneer unit.... but typical of places like circuit city and best buy that hire installers that don't know anything about car audio/video...

oh yeah, and the deck is the metra deck, and no it doesn't match the factory finish

hey send the link for where I can get the the kit that can match the factory. Everybody has a different way of doing things dude, so your saying if I ground the black and white wire and the parking brake. it would bypass the video.

no, I'm saying that for the D3, there was a cleaner hack... I don't think there's a cleaner hack for what you are doing, short of setting up a relay to do the on, off, on trigger....

Don't worry, Roberts not trying to insult you, it's just hard for people like us to see unprofessional installs from so called professional installers like circuit city and such. It's not you he's referring to, we're both just a little bitter. And the switch bypass is sometimes the only way to bypass many units, but it's not the best or even the easiest way to bypass pioneers.

Doc, did you use the scosche or metra kit? I know youve got the trim kit in carbon fiber off ebay, but I'm wondering if that's an overlay or an entire kit.I just bought a video unit for the dash, the oem unit was getting boring.

Oh, and the link to the dash kits are here:If you need to put a aftermarket unit in, GET THE METRA! it's better plastic and also includes the peices for manual and the automatic air conditioner, the scosche only includes the manual.here:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

And heres the link to the kit Doc has, and you can be sure because thats his car in the pictures. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

Just a quick question about this part....I thought I read somewhere a while ago that the Scosche is a better quality plastic, or matches the stock trim better, or something like that? I tried to find where I read it but couldn't

You can go with factory dash kit as long as you have the manual control a/c heat....Digital control (premium package) is too wide.
