After a needed jump for a dead /very weak battery the fan speed indicator on the climate control pinwheeled and the climate control would not turn off. After replacing the filters and the a/c amplifier module behind the glove box, still pinwheeling.
No fuses were blown BUT the 7.5 Amp fuse for the "ELEC B" (bottom far left in fuse box) had corroded connectors. Replaced with the spare and ALL IS WELL.

At least I learned how to replace the NEEDED cabin air filters.

Thank you both - for the original write up as well as the bump. I'll see what I can do to get more eyes on here.

EDIT
This is a gem. Solid first (and last?) post. I'll just drop these cookie crumbs here to help guide the results of wide searches:
- fan indicator keeps spinning continuously after battery boost
- A/C will not shut off
- Corrosion on fuse terminals
- Can't turn air con off
- location of HVAC/ air conditioner fuse
