I have two silver pinstripes going down the side of my car that passes right underneath the door handle. My car would look a lot better without them, so anybody know how to get them off? Anybody ever had to remove them?

my friend took his off his 2000 Explorer. Just make sure that they are kind of warm so the adhesive will loosen up and peel them off. However be ready for the fact that the paint won't exactly match and there will be a little adhesive left over but it will wash off.

Good Luck,-Jon-

Depends on the condition of your paint.........

I took mine off my old 89 Accord that was Silver/Grey, and you could hardly notice, but the paint looked brand-new.....

I also need to remove the stripes off my S13...there's a solvent you can get, I believe its abbreviation is NRK or something to that effect, you can get it either at Pep Boys or at a hardware store. It takes the adhesive right off. It will also take your paint off, too, if you leave it on, so have a wet rag handy to wipe the compound off once you're done.

Try GASoline!

yea, my friend told me and I didn't believe him at first...I tried Goo-gone but it was a PITA.But gas dissolves the adhesive crap quicker!

Anyone know how gas affects paint? I didn't know - but my friend said, "when you fill up your car with gas.. sometimes it spills on your paint.. but the paints still okay right?"

so i tried and it worked like a charm

Gas fill ***** your paint up unless its washed off very fast. I really would recomend doing that. But yeah I need to take my pinstripes off too. I took half of one side off and it was a real pita.

So ok, just soak it in gas... and they'll just come right off? Do I need to get a scraper or something to make it work faster?
