Heard it's a easy way to pull codes.Check engine light finally came on,now trying to pull code.Don't want to pull stuff apart to get to comp,not good at putting all screws back.

Where did you hear that you could pull ECU codes by that method? That method is used on older GM vehicles.

You have three options:

1. Use a ten Millimeter socket with a socket wrench to get to the ECU. And then use a Philips head screw driver (Don't know which size) to get the ECU off the mount.

2. Buy a $100 cable to get the codes

3. Go to the dealer or anyone with a Nissan Consult 1 or 2.

A trick I've found for getting those pesky upper ECU screws out - is to use a small ratchet with an extension and driver bit in the correctly sized socket to get it started. This allows you to put pressure on the screw to hold the bit in the head with the heel of one hand pushing the back of the ratchet - while twisting it with the other hand on the ratchet's handle... I've pulled a lot of junkyard ECUs this way and it really helps.
