Does anyone have a ecu pinout for a 89 maxima with a vg30e MT/FED?? The ecu wont power on. Even replaced it with a refurbished one. Replaced all relays and fusible links and still nothing. Now its time to trace wires so i need a pinout for the ecu.

Another question i have is. When testing the ecu pins with a test light depending on the pin the fuel pump, fans, injectors will come on. Ive never seen that happen. The light is connected to a solid ground and when i touch the pin on the harness things start to come on and the light is dim.

Another question again. The car has a anti theft system. When i was given the car they had lost the key and hammered out the ignition. Could this cause the car not to start? It cranks over but no fuel pump or injector pulse nothing coming from the ecu. I have a new steering column from the junkyard but no key with it. So i would be in the same boat.

IF this would cause it not to start then is there a way to bypass the anti-theft? You dont have to post it but pm me the way. I would like to get my car running.

The anti theft shouldn't do that as far as I know. Using the test light actually runs voltage through the circuits your testing. You should use a multimeter or a logic probe so you don't cook anything accidentally.

If the anti-theft system doesnt shut things down then it is either a bad ground or a problem in the ignition not turning on the ecu.

The ecu uses a common ground if im not mistaken and then 2 wired grounds on the last two pins top and bottom. Those grounds work and the ecu case shows a good ground. So that takes that out of the equation for now. I have seen on similar pinouts that the next two pins top and bottom are hot wires one steady 12v and one ignition 12v. But im not getting any powers to those wires which i thought was due to the anti-teft system but you discredited that. But without a detailed pinout for my car i dont want to go further. Running out of options here lol.

Now when i say using a test light im talking about the old screwdriver type test light. You clamp an end to a bare piece of metal on the car and start probing away to find hot wires. I do not see how that sends current through the circuit unless the circuit is powered already and waiting for a ground to complete it. So im totally lost as to why the light tester would power on components by testing the pins.

Im sorry if i seem like a noob. Ive worked on plenty of older cars but none with computer or wiring issues.

Ok i have been tracking down the cause of this. Current findings.

1. ECU is not dead. I jumped the ecu with a direct hot wire and everything came on like its supposed to.
2. Ecu is not recieving power from the smj harness but the smj block receives power. Cant find where any other loose connections.
3. Relay seems good. Replaced with a ECCS OEM relay brand new. Even Jumped relay connections and still same problem.
4. Trying to figure out what the 2 red wires are that go on top of the ignition where you put the key in. One wire goes to the anti-theft which has me worried.
5. Going through the FSM for a 94 is pretty accurate for a 89 as well. But where it says the harness connectors i cant find any so i can test the wires.

So im still stuck as to why the ecu is not receiving power in pins 49,48 and 16 when the car is on. All signs say a bad fuse or or bad relay but they have been replaced. Its probably going to be something simple and its going to make me upset. New steering column and ecu later lol.
