Yay! Finally the official first post for the convertible tear down and build up! This car I bought for my girlfriend and I to have a fun summer cruiser.

There are plans, but nothing really solid. It has to conted a little with my hatch..but..I think I evenly distribute my time. Plus..She doesn't help me with the hatch, just the vert...so...good times.

It has to go through the steps first I guess! Not much so far, suspension..that's it (eibachs on kybs in front and tokikos in back). Doesn't even run right now do to rod knock. Gross.

pix nao!

First.. we'll start with a picture from when we first got her:Hello wheel gap!

Surprisingly rust free considering it was from the coast of Mass/Rhode Island

As you probably coulda guessed, we got moar low before anything. Actually, maybe that shouldn't be the first guess, shouldn't have been first on the agenda. Swap should have been first, but...it was a boring day..and this could get done...so why not?!

Only picture current with stance is the recent one with Lip addition:

Today started with taking out the seats:

PS.. these seats were taken out with open ended/ box wrenches.. ratcheting decided to break... what a pain!

This guy right here was ESPECIALLY hard to get out with an open end!VVV

Here is the dog, lending a hand.. and a poop.

Took out the carpet..it was gross. We are replacing it with a nice clean carpet that will be modified from a hatch to fit proper. Mint!

Here is the grossness under the driver side.. solid, no rot, no rust really..just gross tarry goodness

Passenger side...little rusty. No rot though. In fact..this isn't really as bad as it looks. But it's the culprit. We're gonna clean it out all nice, and treat it for rust.

Here is the cracked Dash and crappy wheel (to be replaced by oem silvia wheel!!! o_o!)

And here is the replacement HUD dash! Clean as a whistle! Cleaned it off the other night and treated it all nice...blurry picture..but this is a quality dash

And here is the instrument panel/cluster unit.. going to have a friend help with changing it to muy prettyness... the stock look is kinda grody and very outdated. We'd like to make sure it is clean and at least somewhat updated.

And for now...this is just a teaser and idea for the interior. The pilot and navigator seats!! Corbeau A4 reclinable leather. Bad picture..but these seats are totally comfy. Picked them up on Saturday :-D

And that is it for now! Progress posts will assuredly happen. I promise, guys! Until then, hold tight. This will be fun, and I can't wait to be driving it

Ya it doesn't look bad in pink. Kind of surprised. My gf hates pink with a passion. I can't even get her to drive my car. She is afraid of a stick..... I guess once I finish with my vert I will try to pick up an auto one.

Tell her to man up! My old lady kinda hates driving AT now. Currently..this is the only automatic we own. And that is soon to change!

I told her to. It's not very hard to learn. At worse she will burn up a clutch..... My clutch is pretty new so I am sure it would survive. She still was like oh no. I think I have a better chance of teaching one of the kids then getting her to try it. She had never ridden in a convertible it took me like 3 weeks to get her in the passenger seat. Then she was like this is pretty cool. Since my vert is half apart her youngest son keeps going out in the garage and saying he wants to take that car as he points to the vert. I guess I will have to train him to be a future motorhead.

Hey nice find, car looks like its in good shape. Looks like we're in the same boat too, bought my vert so the wifey can drive it. Of course 'cause its auto. heh

The pink is different, but doesn't look bad at all. Slam it, throw some gold Equips with a nice polished lip and you'd be set.

What kind of lip is that too? HD? GL with the new whip.

It's a pignose lip.

My girlfriend wants to swap transmission. We did lower it a good deal already. Gotta figure out the wheels before we go any lower though!

But thanks. I have all pink cars..almost all of them anyways..

Got around to scraping the sound deadening out (from floor pans only) and removing the dashboard (what a pain in the butt!)

And a fancy new carpet? In excellent condition?! It can't be!

Looking good!

Don't forget to install some replacement sound deadening before the carpet... Makes a world of difference.

I used something called RAAM mat - great stuff.

Oh we won't forget! We just wanted to attack the rust before it got worse!

RAAM mat.. I'll have to look into it.
