pinging and screeching sound u-joint? s13

I have a 89 240sx auto. It just recentley started to ping loud when I would put it in drive from park. Sounds like its coming from the driveshaft, u joint? Center bearing? It also screeches real bad up to about 30 mph then it goes away.(sounds like brakes but im postive thats not it.) And when I slow down it wil screech even while coasting to a stop. But then I was searching on here about it, and some of threads say the ujoints are not servicable of course their are a few that say it is...so what is it? My chilton manual has played lil use to me in this situation. I looked at the ujoints and there is no snap rings...so do I have to replace the whole driveshaf? It's the carrier bearing inbetween the two piece of the drive shaft I had the same problem

Yup you are right, I looked under there today with the car on jack stands a friend put it in gear and there was there sound The carrier bearing is shot.

I dont know why they went with a two piece anyways just more s*** to break
