Thank you, Toyota, for legitimizing yourself as my long-time choice as favorite automotive scapegoat. Even when you were still making a few decent cars you were fun to laugh at. Now I don't think I'll EVER get bored.

Wow this media attack on Toyota is just relentless. If this was an American car company that would be enough to make them go belly up......oh wait.....

It will be interesting to see how bad this company will be hit financially after all is said and done.

Actually, that would be a "big" deal to me.

If you are buying a new (or newish) car, you REALLY shouldn't have to climb into the foot well and lube the gas pedal every couple of weeks to keep the car from accelerating on its own.

Not something that should just be acceptable, or only considered a problem for "dumb people" even if it doesn't have to be life threatening.

I'm with stupid.

If I'm paying $28,000 for a new car I don't want to use WD 40 every week to keep the thing going. Toyota needs to get their s*** figured out.

What happened to the little blob of grease they put on the accelerator pivot from the factory?

I don't care if you make 1,000,00 cars, that blob of grease for every car can't cost that much..... probably less than 1 cent per car.

What happened to the idea of making a good car, and not being a tightass about it?Sure you can cut costs in certain areas, like designing a better, stronger chassis that uses less metal, or takes less time to make..... but don't skimp on my accelerator pivot grease! jerks

Seriously, this is just getting rediculous. This is going to hurt them in the long run.
freep article wrote:“Our first priority is the safety of our customers and to conclude otherwise on the basis of one internal presentation is wrong,” the company said in a prepared statement. “Our values have always been to put the customer first and ensure the highest levels of safety and quality.”
on that. Quantity over quality in the name of profit has been the name of the game for the past decade or so, as far as I can see.
freep article wrote:Toyota has said repeatedly that no malfunction in any of its vehicles’ electronic throttle system contributed to any incidents of unintended acceleration, which has been cited in hundreds of accidents, including 34 fatalities, according to NHTSA.
again! This shows that the fault, (which there is one, and it doesn't get recorded in the ECU, so they don't "read" as a fault) can be duplicated in a lab setting:
