I am trying to make sense of why a brand new PFC won't work on my car. So I was looking at a pinout diagram of an RB25DET and pin # 58 is supose to be battery + backup power. So I checked for power there and there isn't any. What gives? I know I never ran a battery backup suplie to my ECU so that may be why my PFC didn't work. Can anyone else comfirm this?I have a series II motor BTW.

You should run that to constant power for the ECU's memory. Everytime you start your car, as it sits now, the ECU has to relearn everything...good for the track, not so good for MPG...

Should be a White/black wire that also provides power to the ECCS relay, so unles syou cut the wire at the relay it should have power.

So now I know why my PFC didn't work. Too bad I sent it back to be tested already.

I wonder how many of us are running are RB's around like this?

Also my RB25DET is a series II and I don't think it has an ECCS relay. I know My ECU Harness only has one relay vs the older ones that have Two.

I think you dont...I think yours only has the relay for the ignition parts. You do need to provide constant power to pin #58 though or the ECU wont store any codes if you do have problems...

I just did it and I also found out that the relay one the engine harness didn't have power! I can only guess that the 8 step wiring bypassed that relay because the car should not run without that relay working.

Your car shouldnt run at all...that is power to the CAS and igniters if I remember right....

Well Since I followed the 8 step wiring program My CAS power must be sourced from another wire. The ECCS relay is bypassed if you follow the 8 step wiring. My car ran fine this way but for anyone who buys a PFC it won't power up without the battery backup wire. Another funny thing is I used to reset my ECU every couple weeks buy putting it in diagnostic mode. After I would do that I could tell a difference in the way the car felt. Kinda weird.

That 8 step is really a bad way to wire the car, it works, but it doesnt give the motor what it really needs.

But at least you have something to try once you get the PFC back!

I'm going to be running the PFC in a week or so. What wiring needs to be checked for the serires I? I had no idea that the 8-step wasn't going to cover enough.

If your car runs with the stock ECU then most of the wiring should be good. The one thing missing is Battey + at pin # 58. It's a white and black wire. I am sure series 1 is the same as most nissans with that conector are the same like the 300zx they all use pin # 58 as the battery feed. To check all your wires go here and click on the link for R33 GTS25T ECU pinout diagram

I can say after driving my car around a few days it feels like it's got more power. The turbo spools faster then before. I see full boost about 500 RPM's earlier and the car feels a bit stronger up top. I guess my ignition maps never got setup right since the ECU had no battery backup. So each time I drove the car it would go through the relearn processe.
