Is there any way I could reuse the old automatic transmission bearing when swaping the transmission? I have a 91 240sx

it's not reccomended, its cheap to replace and very important. Also if you are swapping to a 5 speed you must not reuse the auto one.

Like nightkid said, you absolutely cannot reuse it if you're swapping from auto to manual. If you're swapping from auto to auto, I have no idea. I don't **** with slush boxes.

If you're just replacing one A/T with another one, there's no need to replace the pilot bushing unless it's damaged.

When swapping from an A/T to a 5-speed M/T, the A/T pilot bushing must be removed and a smaller M/T bushing installed.

A pilot bushing removal tool can be rented at most auto parts stores. The hole in the end of the crank where the M/T bushing goes needs to be sanded thoroughly if there's rust present otherwise you'll have a hell of a time getting the new bushing installed.

the tool that i got from advanced auto wouldn't pull the bushing out. i just cracked it w/ a chisel and blew the chips out w/ compressed air.

DON'T DO IT!! There was a thread on here a while ago with a guy that actually did....long story short, he had to take his transmission off with a demo saw. You will be looking at a LOT of damage for such a small cheap part to replace....of corse you'll have fun removing the auto transmission adapter ring, lol.
