pilot bearing remover..??

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

hmm now i am a noobie when it comes to mechanics... now i need to know the name of a tool that will get my pilot bearing out... is it just a bearing remover with slide hammer? i needa go down to canadian tire and rent one for the day but the idiots down there dont know shiiiiit and didn't know what i was talking about........ please help:) thanksssssssss

Yeah it's just called a pilot bearing puller and you also need the slide hammer. They might also have it labled as pilot bushing puller, I think autozone called it that.

one from autozone sucks. that's my opinion.

i've heard from a few reliable sources that a screwdriver/chisel works great to "cut" it out.

Screwdriver/Chisel will work, but it's a pain in the azz...

I personally like to use the one that threads into it, and you put a grease gun on it and the pressure pushes it out. Although a bit messy, you wont mess up the crank end. Just don't bugger up the bushing before you use it.I think mine is a Lisle. Something like this...

it is called a pilot bushing/bearing remover and should be rented with a slide hammer if it doesn't come with 1, the 1 from autozone worked great.

now if its the automatic trans converter bushing, do not use the pilot bearing puller as you will more than likely just break it.
