i'm doing an engine swap at the same time that i'm doing the manual swap into my 95 240...

I'm not sure if my new engine came from a manual, or an auto, so i'm not sure if the pilot bearing is installed or not. I ordered one from nissan, and they sent me a "main shaft bearing" part # 32272-36910. It's a cylinder about 1 inch long, 1 inch diam, and has needle bearings going around the whole thing.

It won't fit into the hole where the pilot bearing should go. I'm thinking they sent me the wrong part, what are the tell tale things i should look for to see if the pilot bearing is already in the crank and what is one supposed to look like?

thanks

A pilot bearing is similar, it's just a small half inch to an inch diameter pipe and about an inch and a half to two inches long. No bearings or anything on it, just a small brass or other metal pipe. You'll know if you have it installed in your engine already, but just to let you know if you are planning to do the clutch anyway might as well replace everything.

Pilot bearing used from 1984 to present including the new 350Z. Check it for yourself.

awesome...

thanks for the helpguys :)

turns out i got the correct bushing with my clutch that I just picked up. (Kentucky clutch kicks major ***... disk, Pressure plate, Throw out bearing and pilot bushing for 95 bucks) I took the incorrect part back and used the money from it towards some other parts.
