I have a question about upper strut mounts. Periodically I've been seeing sets of camber adjustable front strut mounts and solid rear mounts going for pretty cheap on Ebay (a full of set of used Tanabe F&R pillow mounts went for about $150 a few days ago). I have KYB AGXs with Tein S-Techs on the car now (as well as Tein tie rods and Nismo steering rack bushings). I basically want the whole car to be as tight as possible, with as little slop as possible (steering that knows where you're going before you turn the wheel ;)). I figure the Tein tie rods and Nismo steering bushings help with that, as will strut bars, sway bars and maybe an Energy bushing kit, but my question is this: how much will I really benefit from solid upper strut mounts?? This is my daily driver, so I don't want a marginal increase in stiffness and handling prowess in exchange for $200 and absolutely sh*tty ride quality.

Input/opinions?

its not really a ****ty ride quailty... especially since you have S-techs which are not very stiff. If you want no slop then stiffness goes hand in hand with acheiveing that. The rack buschings and tie rods dont have much to do with it...

If you want precise steerign then rid yoruself of all buschings and balljoints that you can. Get some pillow TC rods, kazuma end links to match with those tie rods, SPL lower control arms and sticky tire... then say hello to an awesome steerign feel.

The upper mounts are in line with gettgin subframe spacers. Both of which are worthwhile upgrades if you are wanting to eliminate slop...

Cool, sounds good. I know the rack bushings and tie rods won't help stiffness, but I thought they'd help make the steering feel more direct. Right now I've got 225/50R15 Yokohama AVS ES100s all the way around.

Thanks for the info :)

I would get them more for the camber adjustment of the fronts. I mean, you are replacing a 1/2 inch of rubber that is REALLY hard to begin with (well, if you have old original ones, it will be jankedy and soft). But yes, they are nice to have.
