so i posted a while back about some idle problems, and ive worked and worked on getting the idle on the car fixed, and i think ive come to a conclusion, and i wanted to run it past the experience you guys collectively have on this site.
heres my car:89 e to DE swapwiring is good, i wired *everything* properly, even my consult plug worksalso, when i went e to de, i went auto to manualagain, the wiring is good... the only thing i havent hooked up are the reverse lights
symptoms:car idles at about 900 rpm once its warm. This is fine with me, except for the fact that i cant lower the idle with the regular valve. let me rephrase: i can lower it to the desired 650-750 range, but i cant keep it there. when i drive the car around town, the idle dips when changing gears. most of the time only for the car to chug a bit, but every once in a while it dips low enough to stall the car. Most of the time, its no big deal... when im moving, i can simply pop the clutch, and get myself going again, or shift fast enough to not drop all the way down, but when im rolling to a stop, this becomes a problem.
im pretty confident, this is not a vacuum issue, as ive replaced every hose on the intake and egr sols.
what i think it may be is the auto ecu.reasons: the idle is designed to be higher on the auto, as you need to hold the (powered) breaks in order for it not to drive, and it also raises the rpm once you are in gear. without the auto transmission, the ecu may always think that its in gear, and raise the idle accordingly, which is why i had to lower it to something lower than its supposed to be... thus causing the drops when lets off of the throttle. so on and so forth.
If this is the case... can emanage or safc correct this by playing with the af ratios when i let off of the throttle? is that not even possible with a piggyback?
or...
am i completely off and someone knows the correct answer? =)
thanks in advance guys
