My buddy has a first gen Altima, 5 speed, with the KA motor. He's giving some thought to turboing it, but wants to run it on the stock block. We're figuing that on 5-7 pounds of boost it should be fine. Im a DSMer so I know 4G63's not KA's. Right now he picked up a 14b turbo off a first gen Eclipse/Talon. So I was figuring to get his car turboed (real word?) we'd need:
-Turbo (duh)-piping-intercooler-turbo manifold (exhaust made to fit, etc..)-injectors (DSM 450's if they fit)-manual boost controller-boost gauge-adjustable fuel pressure regulator (?)-fuel pump (?)-tuning device (Apexi SAFC)-turbo oil and coolant lines (where should we tap for these?)
Thats off the top of my head. I have no clue what these motors can handle in stock form. Would we need a better head gasket for it run boost at all? Any help would be much appreciated. He's having second thoughts becasue he's worried about blowing the thing up, but I've seen so many cars go turbo with little problems doing so. He's not in any hurry to do this so we have time to look around for the best deals on parts so it can be kept fairly cheap(ish).
