So I finally got the motivation to start my swap after losing two quarts of oil in less than two weeks, and the transmission not really liking the roads around Pittsburgh.

For the past year the trans has slowly been getting worse, and would get stuck in third gear a lot and barely move around.

So Saturday was my first day off in over a month and with winter out of the way I figured it was time.

Yesterday, I got the trans removed and flexplate off.Today after sleeping in way too late, I plan to get the wiring done, and hopefully somehow source an angle drill to mount the clutch pedal.

Monday I'll drop the flywheel off to get resurfaced and I'll go from there.

More pictures and progress to come later.

and on a side note, I got a new windshield put in Friday, just wish I could justify spending a grand right now for the top.

Guessing no one really cares all that much, but the rain and 12 hour shifts kinda slowed progress down. But the new rms is in, flywheel mounted and torqued to spec and the clutch is installed. hopefully tomorrow night the trans will be going into it's new home. Wiring is mostly finished, just gotta connect the reverse switch.

Then, Sunday the brake pedal is getting cut to size and the clutch pedal and master cylinder are getting mounted. I bought an angle drill attachment at sears too. It turns a regular drill into an angle drill, so hopefully that works out. It was only $20. Hopefully there will be yet another 5 speed vert in PA by Sunday evening.

Me and a few guys at work got to thinking, and wanted to know roughly how many 5 speed verts there are right now, still rocking the KA.

Thanks for taking the time to read, and for all the very helpful articles making this project a lot easier.

The endless days of rain have really slowed this down, and a slight problem I ran into with finding a manual pilot bearing smashed up in the back of the crank, after fighting with the trans and realigning the clutch a few times for two hours.

The Matco sales guy hooked up me up with a tool that was a gift from above.

It's a cleaner way of using the grease method, just screw it into the pilot bearing a few threads, and start pumping grease into it. It made pulling it out the easiest thing I've done with the swap so far.

The trans is finally in it's new home and, hopefully early tomorrow morning it will be road worthy again.
