brother i feel your pain....i posted about some crappy paint at the edge of the door. it seems they don't prime the car very well (or at all) and they certainly don't use quality paint. dealers don't offer to do anything about it, but i keep complaining. the rest of the car seems really well amde (ok maybe not the CVT) why can't they get this simple item right?

I had the same problem happen to me. I was driving down the highway here in Toronto during the winter and a big chunk of ice flew off an 18 wheeler and hit me right at the lip of the hood leaving a paint chip measuring 1" x 2".

Just like you, the paint chipped to the bare metal. I just went an auto shop to get some primer and a touch up paint pen from the dealer.

It's not a very good looking paint job, but at least it covers up the bare metal preventing it from rusting.

Paint has been made environmentally safer and this causes it to be thin and not adhere as well. I'd go the touch-up route then as it continues I'd have the hood resprayed at some point.

This is not a Nissan only problem or a quality issue. It affects every new car.

Ya, I got a little chip on my roof, and 1 week later it rusted out. I also noticed rust forming underneath the rear hatch door where they put the anti-chaffe tape in the middle of the frame on either side where the rubber bumpers on the door land when it's closed. It's rusting under the tape. I too am noticing paint peeling away in between the seems on the rear bumper. My car is only 7 weeks old!! I'm bringing the car to dealership next week to show them. The crap paint is definitely with other cars too. I had a 2003 VW Golf previously, and I had the same issues with the paint. Very very soft. The front of the car looked like it was weathered for 5 years only after having the car for 1 year. Wasn't happy at all.
