Paid a visit to Shane (QSIGGUY) in Phoenix, and he installed this IPOD connector directly to bose head unit. It works great. From picture you might note that I placed activation button on the connector harness itself, and that has worked out very well -- it even looks pretty good. Used a standard wiring sheath so as to give it a little stiffness and this tucks along side the side of seat when not in use. Installation time was very minimal, like 20 minutes.

That is exactly what I have been looking for..... How exactly does it work though? How do you pick the ipod connection and the casette, radio, etc? Also, howmuch was this and what kind of shops would do this kind of work?

As mentioned, the details are in the post listed. Simply put, plug in the connector on the bottom of your Ipod, push the button, your radio will read "AUX 2", turn on your Ipod and you are good to go. When finished, just disconnect from Ipod, turn your radio power off then on and you are back in conventional mode. Still in the process of cleaning-up the connector. I want to put a rubber boot around bottom of switch so that it looks cool. Discovered that if you have Ipod with thick cover that has an attached belt clasp, you can clip it onto the edge of ash tray and it will sit at an optimal position. Shane sells the assembled core components for $65, plus there were a few little knick-knacks from Radio Shack. The installation is very easy and straight forward. Used an electric tie and piece of wooden dowel rod to lock in the wiring sheath that you see in the picture.
