I'm running those on the rear and dunlop fm901's on the front. there are several reasons that I bought the barum tires.
- treadwear (they wear slowly and evenly without being a hard tire)- speed rating (these are comparable to a falken ziex or yok 420)- noise factor (relatively quiet)- its only about half as grippy as a soft ES100 but lasts 3 times as long. - price (about half the price of an ES100, even cheaper than ziex on sale)- tread design ( allows water to escape effectively but still holds the road) - availability (I have 4 of them sitting in my garage, might as well use them).
my only beef is that the 55 series sidewall isn't as stiff as I'd like, but to be honest with you, I got sick of buying expensive tires for the rear just to have them camber away to nothing, or heat cycle themselves out of useful territory. also, and this is just me, but when its warm weather, I run stickier tires, when its winter, I run something that won't leave me hydroplaning and dead... that is, since my car daily drives me to work and back 6 days a week, I want to make sure myself and my vehicle will make it to work again next spring.
