did mine last weekend.. but i left the sides, the top, and the center area behind the nissa symbol black for added contrast....dangeris wrote:very nice
what do you mean by "color sand"mpbclutch33 wrote:I actually didn't use any primer. I used 400-600 grit sandpaper to scuff up the plastic. Used a dish liquid solution to get all the grease and stuff off. Let it dry overnight. Taped it off the next morning. I put about 3-4 coats of base down and about 2-3 coats of clear. I am a perfectionist so there was one little spot bothering me, so I tried to fix it but ended up messing it up more. So last night I sanded out the imperfection and I will touch it up later today. If you want the smooth clean look, make sure you color sand between coats and def. before adding clear. Add your pics when you get them done. Adds a nice touch for $8 you can't beat it.
thanks my dude... I'm sending you an email now...mpbclutch33 wrote:More than likely when you use paint in a can, it is not going to go on totally smooth. There will be texture to it. If you spray the color coat and then sand it smooth with like 1000 grit without taking too much paint off and then apply the clear and wet sand again with 2000 grit, you should get a very smooth clean finish.
i drove mine for about an hour, popped the hood, and put my whole hand on the cover and it wasnt that badESP wrote:Just wondering how hot the 3.5 gets?I considered painting mine, but after only a few minutes of regular driving the engine cover on my 2.5 is almost too hot to touch...I've never had a problem painting engine covers before, but none of my previous cars have gotten quite this toasty...
