Well I finally got bored enough to paint it. It took alot of time. The air here is soo Humid lately. I have not installed in on the car yet, because there is one area that I want to touch up first and I have to wait for the humidity to go down some. But here is what I got so far.

I used Krylon for plastic. I didn't sand after the final coat and before the clear, because I liked the kinda rough look. Turned out pretty good.

No.... silver is silver. Wasn't too worried about it. Looks 1000 times better.

did mine last weekend.. but i left the sides, the top, and the center area behind the nissa symbol black for added contrast....

but i didn't like how it turned out, so i'm repeating it with a brand new engoine cover, and a 12oz aerosol spray can of Nissan K12 paint... hopwfully it'll turn out as nice as yours this time around....

did you use 1 or 2 laters of primer?

I actually didn't use any primer. I used 400-600 grit sandpaper to scuff up the plastic. Used a dish liquid solution to get all the grease and stuff off. Let it dry overnight. Taped it off the next morning. I put about 3-4 coats of base down and about 2-3 coats of clear. I am a perfectionist so there was one little spot bothering me, so I tried to fix it but ended up messing it up more. So last night I sanded out the imperfection and I will touch it up later today. If you want the smooth clean look, make sure you color sand between coats and def. before adding clear. Add your pics when you get them done. Adds a nice touch for $8 you can't beat it.

More than likely when you use paint in a can, it is not going to go on totally smooth. There will be texture to it. If you spray the color coat and then sand it smooth with like 1000 grit without taking too much paint off and then apply the clear and wet sand again with 2000 grit, you should get a very smooth clean finish.

Just wondering how hot the 3.5 gets?I considered painting mine, but after only a few minutes of regular driving the engine cover on my 2.5 is almost too hot to touch...I've never had a problem painting engine covers before, but none of my previous cars have gotten quite this toasty...

MBclutch ... thanks for the advice on how to properly paint the engine cover...

I finally got my new engine cover, and was able to paint it over the last couple of days...

I was able to get perfect Nissan Radiant Silver paint in aerosol form from these guys...

I'll have more pics up later... but here's a few... thanks again MB!!
