Just finished it up today. The 2 larger peices of pipeing are from a 90-93 model Honda Accord intake ( thanks for the info mtcookson ) and i managed to source a 90 degree peice to run it behind the headlight and down. Was just enough room to fit behind it without cutting as you can see in the last pic. Not to bad if i do say so myself and i can def tell a difference. Im contemplateing making a small air inlet to aim the air more directly to the intake that would blend in with the front bumper but still thinking it over.Tell me what ya think of my handy work!

Thanks for the props guys! Engine needs a lot of cleaning but it was like that when i bought it. Hope to get a lot more done and have it all spotless. Im also currently working on one for a 89 300z. Once i get everything together and run i will post pics of that aswell.

The pipeing is 2.5" while the stock was 3". If i would have gone with 3 then it wouldnt have fit anywhere you tried to run it except straight down which is out of the question. The .5 difference is not enough to hinder anything. Though it looks restrictive its actully not. I could def tell a big difference over stock and breaths just fine.

when intakes were a big deal to me and it was always being discussed on team-integra, there were a couple of things people took into consideration before making their own.

1. metal conducts heat. the difference in a car with a metal intake pipe and a thicker plastic piece was noticable after the car had been driven hard for a while and it had heatsoaked.

2. 90 deg. bends hinder airflow, and you have 2x of them. considered relocating the battery to create a more direct route?

3. there was a huge debate over there, including all kinds of dyno sheets etc... that pretty much ended in them showing that a cai had almost no benefits over a well-made short ram intake while the car was moving at any speed.

i dont know how much of that applies to your situation though.

I see where your coming from but im not trying to make the Max into a track star or anything. Just something for me to play around with. I had it as a SRI at first and it actually didnt perform as good as it does now that i made it a CAI. Ive worked on plenty of cars so i know that the most unrestrictive route ( less bends ) is the best but i worked with what i had and just dont really feel like moving the battery lol.

never said anything about wasting the time and money creating a piece of performance art, but have you considered between the material, bending and size that you're hurting your performance or fuel economy over the stock piece?

i ditched my metal tube for the oem plastic one recently lol.

Well as ive stated it hasnt hurt performance but has so far improved it. I can def tell a difference. As for gas mileage im not sure yet since i just completed it the other day. Guess i will know here before to long.
