Well, I snapped some pics today of the progress of the swap so far. I started Monday and have been going at it everyday for 9-10 hours per day. I'm doing a thorough job so it looks nice and doens't have problems when I'm done (I hope!).

I used all stock RB20 mounts with R33 crossmember, and I redrilled the slots in the crossmember 3/4" farther back from originals, but it wasn't necessary. I'll get more pics when I get the transmission in, but as of now the shifter should only be 1/2" forward of center.

you have alot more foom on your than mine. you might even be able to fit a puller fan. I can only fit pusher fans infront of the radiator :(

way to go nick! Drilling the X member was a good Idea, supprised more people don't do something like that.

Yeah, I was surprised how easy it was to make it fit well!

I DO have room for two 12" pullers..already tried ;)

Actually, drilling the x-member will not get you that much. I measured it. There is a support piece running underneath the mount point that will keep you from being able to screw the nut back on the mount if you try to drill a new hole more than about 0.4" back.

So yeah, you can drill them out 3/4" back, but you won't be able to screw the nut back on without some cutting and weakening of that reinforcement piece.

Btw, you do seem to have more room than I did, although my PermaCool 12" fans won't fit with only 2 inches clearance from radiator to crank pulley. I know my car was wrecked at least once in its past.... maybe that's why it's different.

I drilled mine back 3/4" inch from the centerpoint of the stock holes on the xmember and it was JUST right and the nuts went on ok.

I don't know why, but it just does seem to have more room than normal...:)

It was quite a bit of work, but the diagrams and writeup that "Wulfgang" made and posted on here made it possible, couldn't do it w/o it.
