The car was not detonating.......

I just think the piston was deteriorating before I put the motor in the first time......

The compression was low in that cyl.....

You installed knowing the engine was not in top form? I'm not trying to hate, just curious as to why, if that's the case...?

I had the motor installed last year spring .....it had no gaurantee but to run and start......

I checked the compression late last year and it was low i #3 but no oil blew out breather filter or exhaust........

So when I took it out this past winter to clean up the bay and block.....I figured no internal work was needed......

I had been noticing oil coming out breather this year.......during the small amout I drove it........

Then driving normal down the freeway and BANG!!!!

dude that's detonation, you see the pitting and the chunk missing? It looks a lot like Jay's KA-T piston (we melted 2 in a day when the wastegate failed).

Exactly, pistons don't just "wear out", at least not with a hole like that :D

You should take a look at your fuel system and tuning.

My tunning and fuel are fine........

The car never detonated last year........

The maf went bad and maybe caused some problems cause it did stutter at times until the maf was replaced.......

None the less.......the motor has to be rebuilt .......

Yeah, I wasn't trying to place blame or anything, just commenting.

A friend of mine's Talon TSi did the exact same thing.

Stock turbo and intercooler, 12psi, 93 octane gas. Put a hole in a piston.

We think it was either a bad fuel pump or injector.

The MAF sounds like a good possibility, if it's reading wrong, you have the potential to go very lean. Also, at WOT, the car is in open loop, so unless the SR20DET has a knock sensor, there's nothing it could do to save itself.
