Pics of my buddies G20 with SR20DET (motor came from an Avenir)

My Bro Benny

Quick smoke break

Poor Benny Boy pulled out the axle w/out draining the trans. Gear oil all over the place. When he removed them I just shook my head and volunteered to walk down to the auto store and purchase some replacement oil, as he didnt think about this beforehand (thats what I get for taking a smoke break...)

Good call, that pan looks like it's seen much better days.

Nice pics, were you replacing the stock axles or moving up for bigger power plans?

Pans been done for a while, has a couple dents in it =(

The cv's were torn in the stockers and later in life he does have plans for bigger power, so he just went with beefier ones. As the car stands right now, there is quite a bit of work still needed to be done. His 5th gear is totaled, no LSD, several bolts on the transmission mounts are missing (along with a couple in the bell housing), hes using my SAFC as his was stolen, etc.

hey sorry guys for bringing this from thread from the dead. I have a brother in law who had his g20 break on him. Hes had this car for over 7 years and has done good. I think his water pump has broken but the car has over 207,xxx miles and I was thinking about swaping a sr20det motor in it. How hard is it and what kinds of things wil I need for it? Is it straight forward with the non-turbo harness? plug n play? thanks....I do own an Acura and have done swaps by myself in many cars already so I should have a good amount of ideas on how to take the motor out and attaching the whole harness back on. LMK so I can plan ahead for my new project. How easy is it to acquire such a motor, sr20det, FWD?

http://www.sr20forum.com is your friend. lots of info there that will answer most if not all your questions. many japanese engine importers like Soko/Soken have these motors. you will either need to run the turbo ECU that came with the motor or if you use your stock harness and ECU, you will need to have it reprogrammed for the bigger injectors, etc. Jim Wolf Technology does the ECU reprogramming.

I'd venture to say that they probably caught that before putting the car back on the ground.
