I wonder if a plating shop would be able to plate the grille with black chrome. Powdercoating would definately hold up better than painting, but it would really lack shine at that point, unless they added metal flake to the powdercoat which might look kind of weird. What's everyone else's opinion on this? Should I leave it polished or paint it black?
while I was at it I dicided to do a few other mods for you.....

That looks good bulld0g! I"ll just throw a stillen front airdam and oem spoiler and side sills on there and it's done! I was going to buy some aftermarket wheels but I wonder if I should just powercoat the stock ones after seeing this pic. I almost like the smaller wheels better than if I purchased some 17s. Are yours powdercoated or just painted?

Honestly, I think painting or powder coating it black would look sharp, from what bulldog showed us there. I'm not a fan of having lots of thin pieces of billet on the front, which is why I think it looks better painted.

Don't get me wrong, I like chrome/billet, but it needs to be more spaced out and thicker.

One comment on Bulldog's last chop... I don't think the all-black look is that hot, but maybe some gunmetal rims... maybe some nice 5- or 6- spoke Rotas? I think that would look dead sexy.

Can you chop these wheels on there? I hope the pics are good enough. These are the gunmetals I was thinking of getting.

Well I think EV was right... those gunmetals look sweet. I actually almost like them more with the grill polished because of the polished lip on the wheel but I'm still milling the whole idea over in my head. Every one of those pics has something nice about it that I need to consider, but thanks for chopping those for me because now I have an idea to work with here.

I think they look sweet because they keep the general dark look of the car, but if you put too much of the same color, you kinda have the problem that Kimber was saying where you have too much of something. In this case, it would be too much blending in.

The gunmetal gives a little contrast to the black, while still setting off the wheels as being a focal point.

I agree that the polished lip does help balance out the billet a bit more, but just not enough IMHO.

Very helpful chops, bulldog! Thanks.

Agreed. I think Bulld0g deserves a custom title for his photo-chopping abilities. I think he should be "modification previewer" or something. EV, any ideas?

I actually like the grilles..I just received mine last week and will be installing them soon. I purchased an 08 Versa SL w/ Conv package. I will be installing fog lights, the new grill, spoiler, body side molding and tint windows.
