Cannon G11, supposed to have all functions of a real SLR? Been using the manual settings, pics come out pretty good I think.

Thoughts?

Not bad but as srwong said not slr type quality. Overall you need some tire shine and a tripod....bc night shots tripod is deff necessaryalphapig wrote:...kinda

Tripods definitely make night shots easier to shoot, but sometimes are not always available. Having some nice glass (lens) that can open wide up, also shooting a higher iso will allow you to get away with out having a tripod on hand. My lens of choice for this is my fixed 50mm 1.4 prime lens. - Just my 2 centsPhEnoM78 wrote:Overall you need some tire shine and a tripod....bc night shots tripod is deff necessary

Sam u always have some badass pics & the price on the D3000 isnt bad at all!!! im probly gonna do that, do u have any problems or do u really reccomend it for a newber?srwong wrote:i have a Nikon D3000 w/ SB-600 flash
i've had mine for almost a year now, and i love it! it's easy to work with, even for a beginner. it has an auto setting, or you can go more advanced and use the manual settings. even with the stock flash, it still takes great pics, as you've all seen. it takes a lil practice to get the hang of what to do to make the pic come out great. but well worth it. i would deff recommend it.mmx23z wrote:Sam u always have some badass pics & the price on the D3000 isnt bad at all!!! im probly gonna do that, do u have any problems or do u really reccomend it for a newber?srwong wrote:i have a Nikon D3000 w/ SB-600 flash
Dood i just found out that the rebel t2i was the 1 she wanted, but i had my eye on the nikon d3100, found it with the 18-55mm lens for 540!! but i talked to her brother & found out he already got her a camera but wont tell me which 1... im thinkin of getting myself that d3100 now!!elfenlied8 wrote:Just got my Canon Rebel T2i yesterday. It takes awesome pics and I like fidgeting with all the manual settings to get the best picture. The new nikon d3100 just came out and it's cheaper but still a good starter DSLR. Well it's your decision, just dont be a noob that buys a DSLR and only uses Auto.
(chants) DO IT! DO IT!mmx23z wrote: im thinkin of getting myself that d3100 now!!

how would i do that? i already have a wireless remote for taking pics.Flypinoy457 wrote:Nice setup Srwong, you should try putting your pop-up flash into commander mode and use the flash off camera in remote mode for some really cool lighting effects. Running a similar set up with my D300s and Nikon SB900 and SB600
