I just picked up my new coupe this weekend. 3.5 dark slate fully loaded (minus silly sun visor). I was in shock with excitement and of course had to just kill some time and drive around getting the feel. I put 100 miles on it yesterday (saturday, day of delivery).

This morning (sunday) i woke up early, and wanted to wash it. I started the car and noticed the ABS, VDC, and SLIP lights were all on. Anyway, i washed the car, and moved it out of the way to wash another car, and the lights were still lit. About an hour later, i took it for a drive. The lights were out when i started, and about 2 miles down the road they lit up again.

I stayed at that destination for 2 hours. Got back in the car, and started it up. no lights. drove about 15 miles with the lights off, no problems, came home, parked the car. I took a shower and went back out, the lights were on again when i started the car, and now they have been on ever since, no matter how many times i restart the car.

Anybody with similiar problems? i'm paying the service department a visit tomorrow

OK, went to the dealer this morning (second in line for the service department ) and they checked it out on the spot. After about an hour, they told me i'd have to bring it back next monday, they had to order a part. They claim the ABS actuator is malfunctioning.

So, time will tell, i'll report next monday.

You should definitely get this checked out. Sucks to buy a new car (not a cheap one at that) and have problems from the start. Hope its not a lemon.

Yeah, I was talking to some of the people waiting for service. They all seem to feel that the service department is incredible, so i hope i feel the same way. Of course i'm sure the people that did not have a good experience with the service department don't go there anymore so i couldn't get their feed back LOL

This is my first new car, i hope its not a lemon either

Hey, I got an Altima Coupe about 3-4 weeks ago and I had the same problem as You right from the start. All the warning lights came on so i took it to the shop and they had it fixed within an hour. Then, it came on again so they said they are ordering new parts. Honestly, it might have been a computer malfunction for the new A/C . We should be able to gt an exchange if this problem contiues!

Jak, I'm sorry to hear of your bad luck, but i'm glad to know i'm not alone. Maybe there will be a potential recall if more of these show up.

The dealer called wednesday to tell me the part arived. I'm bringing the car in on monday to let them work on it. I'm pretty sure the ABS actuator is on the firewall (the part they ordered, technician said its faulty), and its a tight squeeze to get to all the brake lines that go to it and i'm super concerned with them touching the brake system. Maybe the actuator motor is all that needs to be replaced and hopefully its external from the brakes/brake fluid itself.

Good luck, i'm going to report back with my results. Keep us posted with what the story is with yours.

EDIT: Just did a little more searching. Seems some G35 owners had this problem too. At best, i found 2 instances of it having to do with a recall, something about the brake light switch adjustment. Found some others that had entirely different problems

My 03 Infiniti G35 had a similar problem right after I got it. All the lights went on for the vdc and brakes and I had trouble shifting out of park and the rear brake lights would not come on. On mine it turned out to the be the part on the brake pedal that releases the shift lock which had to be replaced. It was an issue for the 1st year G35.

This sounds similar, but slightly different.

OK well i spent the first 4 hours of my day on the service departments half way comfortable couch while i waited for my car.

Drove the car down to the gas station and opened the hood. The ABS actuator on the firewall was indeed replaced (which means brake system was opened).

The lights are not on anymore, so that seems to have cleared up the problem. I've only traveled 15-20 miles with it so i'll keep an eye on it and will definitly report back if there are any further problems. But for now, i'll consider it case closed and fixed.
