Hello,

I just picked up a 2 dr King Cab for $1000. And it only has 63k Original miles =)

Any tips/hints for general upkeep? I've worked on Honda's, 240's, and my Versa, but never with a Carb. car.

Thanks!

not a bad find... assuming the body is in decent shape! welcome to the 720 side man!

as far as upkeep... just keep it all clean and it should run like a champ... filters etc

Thanks for the response.

Ill have pics soon. I got it from a buddy who I work with. His uncle was the original owner and lived like 2 miles away from the Nissan Warehouse in Wilmington, Ca. He drove it (not often), got old, and sold it to my buddy. My buddy just blew something in his leg and has problems driving stick shift. His misfortune = my gain.

There isnt any rust that I noticed yet, and the body seems fine. I do autobody so I can fix whatever needs to be done. It has weird mirrors, unlike the one that you've got...so I'm assuming he put those in from what looks like a Bronco.

Quick question - the 85 which I have is the Z20 or Z24. According to Wiki...I've got the Z20s (hence carbed) but since it's 85 I thought i had the Z24. Any confirmation?

Thanks-jim

Look on the driver side (I believe) there will be a stamp on the block, or motor mount.

Z24's were also carbureted in '85 (and in '86 in Canada). To know what you have for sure just look at the metal tag in the engine compartment (providing the engine hasn't been replaced or the tag removed). It's on the passenger side near the firewall ( well it is on mine anyway) If its in cubic inches it would say 146ci instead of 2400cc.

As for the mirrors they could be original, I was at a wrecker the other day and saw some funky mirrors bolted to the doors that looked nothing like mine. There was a mirror just below the glass with bolting sections even with the mirror then a bar that came out, down then back in and bolted to the door approx. half way down. I don't care for that style too much....

EDIT: Wow, I'm a slow typer.

^ His solution may be better.

Nice to see that the community is pretty active.

I used to post up on g1teg.org often and they were just as helpful.

Tomorrow Ill take a few snaps as well as some concerns/upgrades that I'd want to go over and have some input from the community.

Anyone from SoCal btw?!

nope... you could prolly get away with it tho... i also don't believe headers are legal there... also could prolly get away with it but i dunno.

all the basic little things that make it run better include removal of emissions components... not legal for you in CA technically

I wish also, I live way north, even from PEZ. Canada is my homeland. Know some people down in SoCal though, Long Beach just like you actually. Convinced one of them to move up here (Well not just me, she married my brother.... so probably had nothing to do with me lol)
