I went to a pic-n-pull the other day and found a 83 auto 300zx turbo with a hole in the oil pan. Sence it was 50% off day i grabed it was only $25, and I checked the center and there was no shalf play. I was wondering what all I got I think its a t3 but I dont know never had a turbo in my life. So really i just wanted to know more about it what it can produce and where i can buy a rebuild kit from or anything I should know about it.Thanks

Off an early(84?) 300z, should be a Garrett T3 60 trim .63 A/R turbine

So how much power can this turbo put out. I also found a rebuild kit on ebay that says its for a t3 so would that work. One more question were do yall buy that pipe that goes from the turbo to the exhaust and the down pipe. Do I just use one from a sr. Thanks

I made 250whp at 12 psi on that turbo. I'm gonna go back on the dyno soon with more fuel and more boost too see how much it can make.

Yeah, you can get a rebuild kit, but if your turbo is in good condition, I would just use it as it is. I had a lot of trouble rebuilding my z31 turbo. I took it apart and rebuilt it 3 times... it still leaked oil everytime. In the end, I just stopped messing with it and bought another z31 turbo from a friend. You can have a shop rebuild it, but they usually charge $350 minimum.. which is the the ballpark price for a bigger brand new turbo.

Are you looking for the turbo elbow? It looks like you already have it(the piece with the o2 sensor). Most people just use the flange that has the wastegate actuator/flapper. It's not easy to use the stock turbo elbow. The downpipe is going to be custom, obviously.

I can give you some more advice if you need it.

I have one that I swapped compressors on to make a T3/T04b, you will need a special block off to make your own downpipe (or special wastegate if staying internally reg'd, ugh), you can get it from BlaastPerformance.com Look for Nissan 7 bolt.

Can you buy just a compressor to make it a to4b? or did you take it off another turbo? Thanks for that site.

I just bought the compressor wheel and backing plate, along with a rebuild kit. I am going to post a write-up whenever I get my laptop fixed. But I have been saying that for a while now, so who knows. Get yourself a T04e .50 if you can find it.

EDIT: BTW, I bought it new, but I guess you could go used if it was in good enough shape.
