yes it is but i am contesting it. because my modified exhaust was reason to pop my hood and check for illegal smog parts. and i have a header that isnt C.A.R.B legal and got a ticket for that. my ticket is 580 bucks. im trying to get out of the whole thing. so if anyone will take some pics please.

either suck it up and change it so its legal, or deal with the punishment. No judge that has even 1/32 of a brain is going to think your internet pictures actually show you "fixed" the issues. you my friend:

i understand that.. but they arent going to throw it out. i put the stock header and exhaust on or pay the fine.

and that is what courts are going to tell you too.

and im going to do that anyways till i move to oregon. but it is worth a try to fight it because if i dont i pay the ticket. if i lose in court i get it signed off and pay it. if i win i just win and dont have to do s***. so PLEASE CAN SOMEONE POST PICS AND NOT B/S thanks

I would hardly call that being a "d bag" and the picture is just meant to be funny. You broke the lawYou are trying to lie to the state so that you can get away with breaking the law. I'm sorry but unless you can get the ghost of Johnny Cochran to defend you, the only way you can avoid paying this ticket is to change it back to stock, or something else that is legal in the state of California. I hate the smog BS just as much as every other non-dirty-hippie CA resident, but I am not a fan of trying to lie and cheat your way out of a ticket. So yes, I stick with my first response: suck it up and "fix" it, or accept the punishment, and I'll add, "like a man". Oh and if you do get away with it, you're the "D-bag". I couldn't care less if the state gets your money, but I am a fan of justice. It's a stupid law but a law none the less./rant

i didnt post this thread for someone to rant and rave. you want to do that go to craigs list. the deal with the exhaust is that the cop didnt have a DB meter so he had no way of telling if it was legal or not. if i fix it i pay 550 if i dont i pay 580. i have already welded a quite muffler on it, so i dont get pulled over anymore for it. but i just want some pics. and if you guys dont want to get me any that is fine. but please like i said before dont post B/S just because you want to voice your opinion. THANKS

Technically exhausts are not illegal if they are under 95db. Since it is behind the CAT it has no baring on emissions and therefore not regulated by C.A.R.B. Just got ticketed for the same thing, I think you saw the thread.

If you got violation code 27151 then take it to a state ref and have them check it off for you if it is under 95db. As for the headers..good luck. Those are definitely illegal if they are not CARB certified.

As for the stock exhaust pics, I'm not sure what your asking for. Are you looking for the exhaust on the car, or just a stock one lying around.

first of all thank you for not posting something dumb. second ya i saw your thread. and i know that the cat back has nothing to do with emissions. all i need is a kinda up close of the stamped part of the muffler that says the part number or whatever with the nissan emblem. i dont really know exactly what it looks like i just know it will say nissan somewhere on it. and even if i get the ticket signed off i still have to get it smogged by the ref (which is 3 hours away) and pay 550 so in my opinion im dumb if i dont fight it. thanks

i have nothing to contribute except that i don't think it says nissan on it. iirc it says calsonic. so i'm not sure if that will work.

i'm almost 100% positive it says "calsonic". i remember seeing it when i had my car up on a lift to install my short shifter and i was inspecting the undercarriage. i even tried to find out exactly what it was that calsonic did besides obviously making oem exhausts for nissan and racing this bad a** machine

So, what if you just paid the $580? It all goes away, or do you still gotta fix it?
