does anybody have any pictures of how they mounted their SMICs, I'm trying to figure out a way to mount mine. I'm trying to use as much of the holes that are already on my car without ripping the body apart.

If anybody has pics of how they mounted their SMICs and how they routed their piping, i'd greatly appreciate it if you posted them

I unfortunately didn't take any good pics with the SMIC, but I have some advice.

buy a FMIC, the hybrid kit I got from 240supply was only aroun $700 and it comes with everything you need including piping and brackets.

If you decide not to do that, then here is what I did:

With the motor in, I measured the piping and started cutting. I ended up making a huge hole, because getting both of those pipes through in that space is a pain, but you may have better luck with the S14 since you have a little more room.

you will also have more clearance than I did in the fender, but it is still a big pain IMO.

I flipped the SMIC mount over, and pounded it the opposite direction into submission. Some filing and grinding and I got it lined up with one of the holes already in the fender well. Drilled one extra hole and then grinded a bolt hole off of the IC, so it wouldn't rub my tire under hard cornering.

This process, partly because I don't have a lot of great metal cutting tools (I broke every dremel bit I had), took longer than my actual engine swap.

In comparison I had the FMIC installed in about 8 hours, and that included removing and reinstalling the bumper.

I will keep looking and see if I can find some pics of the SMIC install. FMIC pics are posted in the Members Rides Gallery, just search for me.

Good luck!

thanks, i was thinking about putting one of the pipes through the hole on the side near the P/S and A/C pumps, it might need to be opened up a little more. The other pipe would go through the top like in your pics. The PVC is 2 1/2 inch, right? i'm gonna need quite a bit of it coz i'm missing one of the pipes.

i dont have pics, but i just enlarged the stock hole for the intake enough to fit both pipes, and ghetto-fabbed up some brackets from ace made out of mild aluminum and drilled extended and bent where i needed to. didnt make 1 hole in the body or frame.

i'm hoping to use the existing holes and if necessary, only enlarge them. did you use PVC too?
