full roll cage or just the race spec which is behind the seats? my buddy just put his on and it comes no where near the trunk...but his car is a coupe S13. go to az240sx.org and find the thread. it is called roll bar installed or something like that.

i don't know many people who have caged or put a bar in their 240's yet. I do, however, have an article on installing a roll bar, so it should have some of the pics you might need.

I intend on making a custom 4 pt bar because the Autopower bar from what I hear is not a good fit for the 'verts.

I am going to use the full race bar, not the cage, since the car will be street driven, but for track events, I'll ned the 5-point bar to compete.

Unfortunately, most people with them isntallaed have the coupes, I have a hatchback..I am not sure if the bar istelf is made any different.-chet

Here's a few pics I found on the 'net...

If you have the back seats removed, these pics probably didn't help... :) But they should give you a pretty good idea of where it mounts.

Yeah coupe and hatchback roll bars are the same. DGtrials had a S13 groupbuy a while ago I missed out on and they reported they were the same.

Bolt-in Roll cage: $649.95

how practical are these things? I'm liking the race roll bar with the harness bar. I still want accessability to the back seats. Possible?

what is the difference between roll bar and roll cage? what do they do? I been told that they protect you from a source and another saying it simply stiff up the chassis further

You would have to go to a wrap around harness. The belts wrap around the cross bar behind the seat--by using a bolt in belt going down to the old mount points etc--you will allow too much stretch--which could let you impact something ( dash, windshield, etc-)

When the belts are mounted closer to your seats--they will not stretch as far.

Also --PLEASE use roll bar padding --although if you are not wearing a helmet and contact the roll bar--padded or not more than likely your head will give way---that is why many street driven cars do not go to a full cage.

Roll bar is simply a bar that goes across the headline of a car so that if it ROLLS the bar will be the only thing that the ground touches, along with the A pillar support and such. it also helps reduce body roll of the car quite a bit if installed correctly. look at the SRT-10 Viper.. its a convertable, and the bar going across the back (although its part of the actual body form) is a ROLL BAR so ur head doesnt get severed or ginded into a pulp..or has less chance of getting severed or grinded, if u were to flip the sucker.

a Roll Cage is a cage that is comprised of several roll bars that do the same thing as a roll bar, only in more than just one point..most common is 4 along the headliner, to create a box shape.. a cage is exactly what it is, a metal box to house your body.

a roll bar is just a roll cage missing 3 other headliner bars. they work on quite the same principle. except a cage will protect you about 75% more than a roll bar would.
