Ok, Well I was going to wait till I have pics to talk about my new car, but I am too excited. I am getting my 92 240sx convertible with sr20 delivered in two days. Woohoo. I will post pics as soon as I am done joy riding. Anyway, after searching for info on the AIV valve it seems that as long as that is working and none of the other emissions equipment has been removed then the sr20 will pass the sniffer. The guy I am buying the car from doesnt know if that was pluged or not but the car is currently running a test pipe. The install was done at Heavy Throttle so I dont know if they would plug it or not. I was wondering if anyone has or could take some pics of the AIV valve so I know where and what to look for when I get the car. Also, it is my understanding that the aiv valve lets air into the exhaust to help the cat "warm up" more quiclkly when the car is started but I always drive for 20 minutes like my emission station recomends. Therefore why would taking the AIV valve off have any effect on emissions if I drive and warm up the engine for a half hour or so?

Eric aka Super excited waiting for my car and cant sleep dude

From what i understand, the SR motor will pass emmission, as long as you have a cat, and are running a good air/fuel ratio. I think most people do take out the AIV stuff. (someone please correct me if i'm wrong) Anyway there is more of a problem in visual inspection due to the non-legality of the motor.

Well I had held off getting an sr20 because of emissions because I didnt know what they were like because I have driven a 1970 bug for about 6 years so never had to bother. Recently I had to get my accord tested and it was so simple, they never even poped my hood. All they did was chack my gas cap and run the car on the rollers with the sniffer. I am pretty sure I can pass with it tuned properly with a cat but I was worried about not having the AIV valve but like I said in my first post as long as the car has been warmed up it should matter, right?
