does anyone have a picture of a 15x6.5", 40mm offset wheel on an S13? I'm afraid they might look a bit too "sunken in", but id like some reassurance. thanks

40mm offset is the standard offset for a 91-91 240 with the seven spoke wheels right? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

It should look the same.

actually i think the stock 7 spokes are 15x6", not 6.5", so theyll stick out just a bit farther out, right?

Hello. I checked it out and your absolutely right. I always assumed that they were 6.5" inches for some reason. So yes, the wheels will stick out, but just half an inch, and I don't think that would be too noticable......in other words, they will still be sunken in!

The 15x6.5" wheel would be 1/4" wider on each side, not 1/2" on the outside.

If the .5" were just on the outside, then the centerline of the wheel(the spot where offset is calculated) would differ, and offset would change.

Offest is the distance from the mounting pad(where you bolt the wheel up to the vehicle's hub) to the exact center(centerline) of the wheel.

So, a wheel with OEM offset, and 1/4" increase in width to each side will look almost identical to factory. What he said!!

thanks for the replies.. i just found out that the wheels I'm looking at are actually 15x6.5 36 offset. that probably doesnt make much of a difference I'm guessing. just a few more questions. I'm about to install a 10PSI SR20 redtop and LSD. am I going to have tons of trouble with traction with the 6.5 in wheel (I was thinking of running 215 tires) or can anyone reccomend a "stickier" tire compound that might help me out with traction. thanks

Why don't you just get wider wheels?

Please!! please read up on the TireRack website. They sponsor this forum and deserve your patronage. If a customer comes into my store looking for a Michelin or Yokohama, we call TireRack.

For ultimate traction, you don't need the widest tire/wheel evar! just the stickiest tire you can afford. By keeping the size in 15", you keep costs down(you'll be replacing tires often) and you keep unsprung weight down.
