I was just wondering if anyone else thinks that the stock low beams for the S14 sucks ***. I am considering replacing the stock bulbs with ones from PIAA, but I don't know how much brighter it will be. My night vision isn't the best in the world and more light would help a lot. Is it worth it to get the brighter PIAA bulbs? Is the difference significant?

The american PIAA's arent as good as the Japanese ones as far as color and intensity are concerned but will do fine, the $30 cheapies are always worse than stock because the color of the light isnt as good at reflecting objects as the stock yellow. The best lights for visibility in low light situations is actually yellow or HID. Sometimes using bulbs that draw more watts like anything above 55, will burn out faster, to conserve your bulbs you can get better harnesses for the headlights that will save your bulbs.

Well I was thinking about getting the Super Plasma GT ones from PIAA, part # 15960. Supposedly according to the scale that PIAA gives, it's way brighter than stock headlights. That would be tight considering the low beams for stock are worth **** in the bucket. There shouldn't be a problem with the bulbs considering that thte bulb comes up specifically for the S14 240 when using the search function on the PIAA website, right?

Blue *can* be better for dry night driving but like you mentioned they arent good for bad weather when you need them most, the reason is that they dont have a good reflectivity off of fog and rain, this is the reason that yellow is still at the top in this department. Those rediculous 6000k, 8000k+ kits are dumb because as the k goes up, visibility in bad weather is lost again. European manufacturers (ie BMW, Mercedes) used to make 4500K headlights when they started with HID but soon realized that it isnt as efficient for certain types of driving and reverted to a lower K rating, at 4150K. 5000K is the max id buy, im not even sure how 8000+K exist since a sunny day is 5000-5500K while a coudy day is 6000-7200K.

I use the super plasma gt blubs. They are great, alot better then any other headlight i have tried. I kept buying 30 dollar cheap bulbs, and they go out in a couple monthes, had the piaa's for over 6 monthes, and still no problem. Id like to get a set for the bright's to, but i live close to the city so dont get to use my brights all that much. The plasma gt is as close to hid that you can get without spending 500 dollars for hid's.
