I recently received my PIAA Super Plasma GT bulbs in the mail. When I went to the PIAA site, I used their application guide to get the serial number of the bulbs. I have a 1997 240SX base model. My mechanic told me that there was some kind of option that came with the 97 240SX where it had a special magnification system for the headlights and that the PIAA bulbs would not work. When I personally looked at the headlight assembly it seems as though the stock bulb was 4-5 times smaller than the PIAA. Also, there is a metal housing that the stock bulb fits in, and it seems as though it has to be removed if the PIAA bubls are supposed to be compatible. Does anyone know anything about this, whether the PIAA bulbs are suppose to work? I didn't think that the 97 240SX came with a special option to get a magnification system.

The s14mc with projector headlights does use a different bulb than the one that piaa recommends these houseings are different they are glass and not hte plastic models that come on the 95-96, although some 96's weren'r sold til 97-98 so there is some confusion there. the Bulbs you want ot buy are typically used in fog lights. no tthe H-4 light that most people use for honda accords and toyota camry's. It's going to be an H1-55Watt for a low beam. piaa's website is wrong.
