too bad the votings not more visible. ive played a time or two, and the only way to really know how your hard work was received is to win. the consolation prize is "meh. tough luck." be nice to atleast be able to tell how the competitions goin. im sure its not just that easy, but it'd make it more interesting to me as both a spectator and a participant.
visible voting all the way to the deadline would make it seem more like a competition & less like a lottery.
The problem I have seen with online forums is that more popular people usually win. Another issue, even with the staff voting, is lack of understanding what the person did or the effort put forth. As I play with photoshop every day I can tell how much effort was put forth. To me, a detailed and clean chop is worth more than a bling bling chop. Others don't vote that way.
From a "don't win anything" perspective, when you only have 5 or less people actually spending time with an honest chop it's difficult to send out multiple prizes. I don't get anything for the time I spend doing photoshop work either. That's fine because it's the challenge and accomplishment that I like more than getting a shirt/calendar/whatever. But that's me.
Regardless, I'll consider some other voting method and discuss with staff.
