Please post pics of your roll cages. I really want to see how they mount to the chassis (both bolt in and weld in type). I am looking at cages for my car and I am leaning towards the Cusco bolt in type and welding it into the car using #10 steel plate. I have also been looking at the S&W cages, but they only sell a weld together kit which you have to modify and shorten yourself to fit. It's not a pure custom to the car figment.

Any figment pics help are appreciated.

Nice cages, but how do they connect? Are they welded to the floor, of is the floor cut and is it welded to the chassis?, Were the rails plated?

Anyone know about the bolt in style? are these just bolted to the floor of do the wrap around the chassis rails with plated or some kinds of U clamp?

Any info and and pics of the actual structural mounts?

ok so the bolt in type just sandwhich the floor and dont wrap around the frame fail or bolt throught it. But with a little cutting and steel plat it could be welded to the chassis.

I looked at a weld in cage, and other then the rear show towers it was welded to the floor and not to the chassis.

Hmm I think I'm gonna order a bolt in type and get crafty with it.

I'm not a fan of the Cusco cage, or the Autopower. Notice where it mounts to the rear fender wells, it's kinda pointless. It should mount further back to the strut tower housing. If you look at my friend Andy's cage. There is a bar welded across connecting the two strut towers, and the back half of the cage welded to that, and triangulated. It actually adds structural rigidity to the chassis.

Autopower has been approved in some sanctioning bodies, but besides drifting I'm not sure who uses the Cusco.

If I were serious about a cage or half cage, I'd find a local performance shop that specializes in it.

http://www.rollcagecomponents.com/ has some good stuff.

Personally I'm leaning towards an Autopower roll bar. The price is only $100 more than a harness bar. I want it just so I can mount a 5 or 6 point harness properly. I may splurge and get a nice half cage like my buddy Andy.

That does look nice, but if you plan on using it for drifting (like it said in the thread) it wont get you anywhere. A drift cage needs door bars. Just a FYI.

the Safety21 or Cusco will WORK just fine.

The car is super stiff. They work in a rollover (there have been multiple photos and stories on the net now).

The PROBLEM is, they won't pass the strict USA rules. SCCA and whatnot.

SR24DET says my cage won't be able to work for drifting. he is wrong. I've already done an event with it. You don't even NEED a cage for some drifting.

The basic 6 point style cusco / S21 cage does not come with door bars, but you can order them also, OR just order one of their cages that already has them.

I think for S13, Safety21 sells up to 14 points or so....

Some of their cages are FIA approved. You just have to look into it and not assume things.

The bolt in type DOES sandwih the floor. It has the cage baseplate, the car floor, then another metal plate on the underside.

EDIT - I looked through that link for my cage install, and the second half isn't even there. I posted up the rest of the bars later on, but I guess they didn't put those into THAT thread for some reason.

Thats what I mean, the floor is in the middle of the plates, no chassis bolting kinda sandwhiched between the plate.

I think I am going to buy a 6 point and weld her in and add some plated to connect it to the chassis and not just the floor.

The going back my my old post, making it into my own 10 points adding a cross bar, harness bar, and two rear mounts to the rear of the chassis.

Yeah I guess you could do that.

It almost seems more worthwhile to just do a total custom cage at that point....

that looks really terrible.

the bars are nowhere near the body of the car.Are the A pillar bars right in front of the driver's face?

the door bars look like they are WAY too high. Looks like NO arm clearance.
