New user, first post, but this forum helped me avoid a major mistake so I want to share my experience will all. I found this forum when I was searching for information related to importing JDM cars through Canada. I found a lot of information about the Skyline and after doing some additional research into the import laws in the US, I discovered if you replaced Skyline with any other JDM car that is less than 25 years old, you basically have the same issue. AZHitman provided the most useful information and did a great job clarifying the issue in his postings.

RHDAuto.com and .net is another 'importer' that's not an registered importer, yet claim to be able to import any JDM vehicle to the US, Canada, and worldwide. He says he doesn't import the Skyline to the US but anything else is acceptable. He claimed 90% of his business was importing these cars into the US. I found this business because the owner was trying to sell the business on Flippa. I probably don't have the permission to post a link, so here is the text version.

https://flippa.com/127427-AUTO-IMPORT-E ... RGE-INCOME

I urge everyone to take a look since it's an interesting read on how these business owners delude their customers into believing JDM cars can easily be imported into the US. Once specific questions were asked, he quickly changed his story. Included are various documents that 'prove' he legally imports JDM cars, but they are very inconsistent, poorly scanned or unrelated. No HS-7 or EPA forms have ever been posted. Just in case the auction goes down, he has the supporting documentation posted on his facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=16 ... &aid=53510

Why am I doing this? I want to get the word out that these 'importers' like RHDAuto.com are nothing more than loose talking, arrogant con men who prey on unsuspecting car enthusiasts. They knowingly violate US Customs laws and stick their customers with cars that are in no way are legal to drive on US roads. They talk in generalities about cars that don't have to pass certain federal requirements and claim a car with a title is 100% legal when it's not. I'm upset about it and I want to do everything I can to purge these con men from doing business.

Early on in the auction he gave me is number (705-201-1025) to call to discuss the business. He said he lives in Ontario. I spoke with him twice. The first time I called it went to his personal voice mail. Hello, you have reached //some girl's name // and Jeremy. You don't think..

Ask him to throw in drift tuners to sweeten the deal. That's one of his earlier iteration of this scam.

Beautiful.

Welcome aboard, glad to see that we could be of service.

Wonder if Jeremy still lives with his mom?

So he's graduated from selling fake cars to selling fake businesses.

Lets throw a fake bachelor party.

In all seriousness- good catch and congrats on doing research and thinking critically instead of blindly walking into the noteably sour deal.

Thanks. We can't be entirely sure it's the same guy. I'd love to have definitive proof because that would be sweet. I found some links to other businesses on his Facebook page: RHD2LHD.com (offering conversions) and Auto-Scrap.com. Since they are links that appear to be associated with RHDAuto, I have to wonder. If you go to Auto-Scrap.com there are a series of links at the bottom, one of which appears to be legit. It's a rabbit hole.

It looks like he closed the auction and deleted one of my comments in the process. Darn.

Dave, welcome to the Nico forums.

I congratulate you on being wise enough to do an a**-ton of research before planning on importing a skyline.
I only wish everyone was as thorough as you have been, so they could avoid being ripped off.

Skyline importation seems to be quite a big issue for your end of the planet (I'm as aussie, so I can buy a skyline tomorrow with absolutely no problems...... and yes, i am rubbing it in :P)

Other than the issue at hand, I'd like to see some pics of the 240 Z, so post them up so the rest of us can drool :)

That would have been a lie. I hope they are not in possession of a single cent of your money.

Nope not a single cent. Any other legal ways to import a S15?? I have around 35k to spend on one.

Same stuff applies to the S15 as the Skylines. :(
