Phonebook issue! New Phone

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I got a replacement phone and was curious if there is a way to carry phonebook over rather then doing them 1 by 1 again during pairing

Yes there is. There are two ways of downloading your phone book to the Nav system. Your phone needs to to capable of transferring the phone book via blue tooth, or send data to nav system, through your phone by gooing to tools options or settings and it should state to transfer data/phone book. If you do not see anything like this on your phone, then there is no way. Sorry.

There is no replacement that I know of. Maybe someone else knows of one. Have you called the dealer to find out?

Unfortunately, whatever names and numbers you enter in the EX35's Phonebook are linked to the phone that was paired with the EX35 at the time. So, if you delete that phone from the list of Bluetooth phones, the phonebook is deleted with it.

Your only chance MIGHT be to pair the new phone as Bluetooth device #2 and then hope you can use the phonebook entries linked to device #1 with device #2. Not sure if this will work or not.

Infiniti didn't do a very good job with their whole Phone/iPod setup. I'm grateful that I CAN control my iPod from the steering wheel but it is ridiculous that the EX35 won't the let the iPod go to sleep if the car is shut off. After a couple days of sitting, the iPod's battery is dead.

That's only if you have the phonebook stored in the downloaded phonebook - if you individually put numbers into the system, they're there until you delete them.

Mixel - what kind of phone do you have? Some phones have a bluetooth push capability to send over an entire phonebook at once...

This phonebook issue happened to me as well. I recently got a replacement phone for my phone that wasnt operating correctly. I got the same model of phone, but I had to re-pair it to the ex bluetooth. When I did that I lost all my phonebook entries which took me forever to input originally. That really sucks. Pretty silly that the manualy inputted phone numbers get erased.

You should be able to do a full phonebook transfer with the G1 - it supports the phonebook push.

Marlin, Not true! If you manually input phone book entries, and then delete the phone in the #1 position, all of the phone book entries disappear too.

That's really odd! I'd not seen that...

Hmm...I'm going to look into this more now...

Anyone figure this problem out yet?

I got a new iPhone 3GS to replace my 3G a few weeks ago and had to do all the phonebook entries all over again. THEN, I got that iPhone repalced and now I have to do it all again just a weeks later. This is too much of a PITA.

Does "Voice Dial" over bluetooth work with the EX35 phone system?

I'm not talking about the antiquated Infiniti system that requires you to record voice tags, but the kind that most mobile phones use that use voice recgonition and work with regular bluetooth headsets.

The reason I ask is that I've never tried it because the iPhone doesn't support voice dial over Bluetooth, BUT after iPhone OS 3.1 comes out soon, it will be supported.

@marlin

I have an EVO 4G and that does not support it. How do you do it on a G1? I must be doing something wrong if a G1 can do it.
