I'm taking delivery of a 2005 G35 Sedan with factory NAV but no bluetooth. Any experiences to share? I am less interested in the iPOD aspect, more about hands free cell phone use

I have an '05 G coupe and I purchased a Motorola IHF1000 hands free bluetooth kit that works very well.

It has voice recognition that is user friendly with prompts. You push a button and say "Call home" it says "dialing" and calls home or call whoever. You can say "redial" it does. You can say "dial Number" it says "number please" you say 412-555-000 it repeats the number to you and beeps and you say "dial" it says "dialing"

Sounds like a lot to go through but it is really simple and easy when you get the hang of it. This has proven to be a very convenient add-on for me.

If you turn on the bluetooth on your cell phone to seek bluetooth signals, your phone will automatically connect to the system when you start the car and says "phone 1 connected".

I placed the control unit at the base of my auto shifter between the chrome piece and the heated seat buttons. It is very inconspicuous and looks like it is part of the car. Very small and not intrusive.

I purchased the kit about two years ago for $200 and it cost me another $125 to have installed and it is connected to my speakers so it mutes my radio when I have incoming calls or I am on the phone.

A bit of advice, whatever aftermarket system you pick, if you have a microphone installed be sure to put on on the drivers side frame pillar that way as you talk your voice is projected forwarded and hits the microphone clearly that way you avoid any miscommunication with the system.

Alot of people including the factory installed the microphone at the front of the sunroof controls, this is why so many people complain about the system not recognizing commands and people they are talking to not being able to hear the call clearly. Infiniti should have put the microphone on the pillar or somewhere in the dash in front of the driver not up and to the right of the driver's voice. Just my opinion.

Anyway, I hope the above info is useful. Lets us know what you decide on.

Thanks for the quick response! I appreciate the input, and need to ask, do you have the NAV system? I read somewhere that it can complicate the install and possibly affect the functions of the aftermarket device.

I am also considering the PARROT line of products, specifically the CK3200 LS and the MK6100. Does anyone have experience with PARROT?

Also ask about Caller ID display on your Nav system. I have the factory Premium Package A with Bluetooth and I'm pissed the the Infiniti does not have that feature. The Acura TL does but I found the Infiniti more comfortable. While researching an Alpine aftermarket Nav recently, that had the caller ID display as well as ipod input. They wanted $1400 installed. Still thinking about it.

The G35 does not have Caller ID in the package, but my 2006 M45 Sport does and it works fine. I suspect the G's have it after 2006.

I have everything on my car, nav, the bluetooth kit, a Valentine One and Metallic tint. None of my devices have ever interferred with each other. I do not know about the caller ID on the nave screen, I doubt you can make that happen.

I am aware of the parrot products, however, I do not know anyone who has one. The kit I have is my second hands free Motorola kit and I was so happy with the first one that I bought the one I have. I am sure the Parrot is a good one as well.
