Phone Switch

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Is there any way to access the phone on the 2010 besides the steering wheel button? The manual references a phone button near the GPS and other Infinitis have such a button.

There is a "voice" button just below the control wheel for the navi system. It serves thes same purpose as the one on the steering wheel.

On my 2010 the voice button is linked exclusively to the Nav instructions. It gives the next voice guidance. Does yours work your phone?

The "PHONE" button near the GPS depends on which options packages you have; I think when you have the Around View Monitor, they removed that button to make room for the CAMERA button. I don't know of any other way besides the steering wheel button, except for using voice recognition (which is also started using a button the steering wheel).

Why don't you want to use the button on the steering wheel? Is it for the case where the person in the passenger's seat instead of driver's seat has their phone paired with the car?

Nah, just curious. Seems like certain cars have a phone button in the GPS area and others don't. The Voice button on mine is linked to to GPS directions only, yours too?

In the Owner's Manual, pages 4-2 & 4-3 (at least, in the 2008 manual) show pictures of the "center multi-function control panel". The only difference I see is that one has a small STATUS button, and a PHONE button; the other has the CAMERA button instead of the small STATUS button, and a big STATUS button instead of the PHONE button. So that's why I think it depends on whether you have the Around View Monitor.

(Both of those are with the navigation system; without the nav, page 4-4 shows yet another arrangement of buttons, which also doesn't have a PHONE button.)

And yeah, the VOICE button is just for repeating the navigation directions. The Navigation System Owner's Manual says "push to repeat voice guidance for a guide point."
