Since the import scene is growing larger by the day auto theft has also risen. The Philadelphia area has just created a new task force to prevent auto crimes. MAJOR CRIMES are checking on all vehicle that they believe have stolen parts. They are will be impounding cars that don't have the proper documents. Like many city this may cause some inconvenience to enthusiasts. They're many ways to protect yourself.

-if you buy any parts from a private seller. Save anything that show you made the purchase. If the seller report the car stolen afterwards they might confused it as a stolen car part.

-Get paperwork of your engine. They will be checking the vin#. If you bought it from a private seller get a statement from them and include the vin# in the document. If the shop sold you a stolen engine you can take legal action.

-Do not buy engine that have the vins shaved off. It is illegal to alter any vin #s. They will take the engine out because of that.

Protect your purchases.
