Who is PI? I would be interested in one of those for mine. If anyone is interested Greg Dupree can make flex plates for these trannys as well.sxseguy wrote:Auto trannies rock! Let us know how that turns out. I'm probably going with the PI converter as well. Awesome converter at a great price. Will it fit under the smaller 240SX RE4R01A bell housing?
Nice build up bro, you are an inspiration to us all.IvanAtSPRacing wrote:Thanks guys.
Under the hood is a bone stock 227,000 mile KA24de.
What is at the machine shop right now is my spare block getting 8.8cr Arais pistons, Pauter rods, fully grooved bearings, knife edged, shotpeened, nitride coated crank, 11mm ARP head studs and ARP main studs. What is at the porting shop is my spare head getting a full turbo race port, .5mm oversize valves, and Ferrea springs, retainers, and keepers. What is at the trans shop is my AT trans getting fully race built and a PI converter. All of those things will be mated to a full T4 GT series dual ballbearing turbo on a custom PhatKA-T.com header and this will be pushing boost thru a air/liquid intecooler into a custom PhatKA-T.com sheetmetal intake. This of course will be managed by AEM EMS
The wheels actually do look nice on the car but arent the wheels that will stay on the car. I am waiting for my Bogart P1 Billet Drag Star wheels to come in. MT ET Drag 26-10-15 tires in the rear to start with 25-4.5-15 front runners. All of this will be hung under the HKS Hiper II drag suspension on the car.
The car is off to the paint shop right after the cage shop finishes the 8 point cage, window net, and parachute mount. The final color will be what the S15 Silvia front bumper cover is painted now.
The wheels are pretty awesome actually. Konig Network 15x7 with 38mm offset. They are really light weight and fairly inexpensive at $99 bux a wheel. The rear tires are MT ET Drag 24.5-8-15s and mounted on the wheel weigh only 28lbs. The front has 205-60-15 radial tires mounted up and weighs 32lbs. I bought aluminum lug nuts which cost quite a bit at $30 bux a corner. The total for this setup was less the $1000.00 mounted and balanced.Boost_Veteran wrote:can I get some more shots of the rear rims/wheels? Hows the clearance back there?
Looks good.
These are actually not the wheels and tires that I am going to run. The rears are the ones I bought and put on the S13 KA-T I did for a customer of mine. I wanted to see the potential of the car and ended up running an 11.71 @ 118.5 Because they are cheap, I bought a set for the front and slapped them on my car. I believe my customer may end up buying the set from me or I will just sell them when my new set of wheels come in.Boost_Veteran wrote:Thanks, looks good. Cant wait to see the 60 foots with those.
PI converters are decent. The billet front half is cool and the ability to purchase a small body TC for a reasonable price is also nice. Unfortunatly, they dont exactly put the best components in their TCs. We have sold and used PI converters in probably 50 Supras or more. We did some R&D for them and helped them figure out problems with their multi plate lock up converter for the MKIV.WDRacing wrote:Precision Industries, probably the best torque converters on the market. They do great custom work. I had them do a converter for my Skyline, only charged me $369.
I have been getting driveshafts made by Suburban Drive Line (SDL) for years and years now. The do a great job for me and are local. We have worked with them to make one piece drive shafts for MKIV and they also come with our SP400 kits for the MKIV. We run a 3.5" aluminum one they built for us in our 1200 whp 3750 lb shop supra with a trans brake. One of our customers (Marko D) recently sheared two bolts off his torque converter launching on a trans brake on an 8.64 ET blast at the track and the drive shaft SDL made for him is still holding strong.WDRacing wrote:Hey Ivan, let me know where you get your driveshafts from. I'll need a set when I get in the sub 10sec range as well.
What are you doing for rear end gears?
Keep this thread going, lets build a drag car.
